UNIT 10: ANCIENT GREECE
Here we are, close to our own history... Step by step, but at last, , we have arrived to Greece. I am going to show you some videos and links that have some interest to understand better this civilisation. As you know it is not easy to find good documents and some of them are too long but you can start by watching them for a while and then if you like them to continue another day.
This is the link to the website of the British Museum. It has lots of games and specific information about this culture. Explore it because you will learn a lot.
First of all and linking our last unit with the new one there is a video in which you can compare the Persian and Greek civilisation. It is a different point of view as his author says:
In this video John Green, the author, compares and contrasts Greek civilization and the Persian Empire. "Of course we're glad that Greek civilization spawned modern western civilization, right? Maybe not. From Socrates and Plato to Darius and Xerxes, John explains two of the great powers of the ancient world.

This video is the first of a series of 5 (not even 10 minutes each). This is an interesting and clear introduction to the Greek Civilisation. As their authors say:
"The Greeks built an empire that laid the foundations for modern science, politics, warfare and philosophy, and produced some of the most breathtaking art and architecture the world has ever seen. This documentary, narrated by Liam Neeson, recounts the rise, glory, demise and legacy of the empire that marked the dawn of Western civilization. Using the latest advances in computer technology, the story of this astonishing civilization is told through the lives of the heroes of ancient Greece. It combines dramatic storytelling, stunning imagery, groundbreaking research and distinguished scholarship to render classical Greece gloriously alive".

This is another video of John Green in which you are going to enjoy the last period of the Greek Civilisation. Alexander the Great is analysed from another point view, making connections with other historical moments...
And now an introductory video to the Greek Civilisation, but in this case in Spanish. I think that it wil clarify you some of the questions you could have after watching the previous ones:
