Unit 9: Early civilisations, Mesopotamia
and Ancient Egypt

Here you can find useful videos and links to pages related to this interesting unit.
I hope you enjoy them and also to learn a lot!
The first video is in Spanish but it is so Good and clear!!
This is a video showing the main stages of the Mesopotamian civilisation.
Here you have a curious video presentation about the Mesopotamians. I think it is really interesting and you are going to enjoy this funny teacher. He is great!

In it John  Green presents Mesopotamia, and the early civilizations that arose around the Fertile Crescent. Topics covered include the birth of territorial kingdoms, empires, Neo-Assyrian torture tactics, sacred marriages, ancient labor practices, the world's first law code, and the great failed romance of John's undergrad years.

This video shows you the way the first Mesopotamians wrote. Remember that writing was invented here...
(It is in Spanish but it is the best I found about this topic)
And here a first approach to Egytpian civilisation, I will continue adding some more interesting videos about momification and life after death...
Enjoy them all!!
This is another interesting video about Ancient Egypt presented by  John Green, the creative teacher that usually introduces other points of view ... I am sure you are going to enjoy it, don´t forget to watch it even after have finished the unit...
ROSETTA STONE. This is a fascinating story about the way the hieroglyphs were first translated.
  • In this series of videos you are going to discover the mistery of the Rosetta Stone, one of the more fascinating misteries in Egytian history.
  • I am sure you are going to enjoy them. You can start by the first one and if you like it -only in that case...- you can continue watching the others.

1. Let´s start by the first:
This is the second...
This is the third... and then the others... you can follow the order as it is written in the proper video (3/8, 4/8 and so on...) At the end you will become an expert... Enjoy them and tell me if you have seen them all or how many you have seen...
AND HERE YOU HAVE, THE LAST ONE...

HAMMURABI´S CODE

These are two videos in which you will find out what is Hammurabi´s code and why we consider it so important. They are very simple but also very clear.

Do you think that our systems of laws are similar to them? How can you make the difference?

EGYPTIAN TEMPLES

Here you have a really short video about Egyptian temples. It is part of a PC demo or something similar but you can use it stopping it every time you want to know more information...

EGYPTIAN PYRAMIDS

Here you will fi nd some videos about the pyramids an their construction. The two first are in Spanish and the others are just some possible interpretations about how they were built, some are really crazy but I sure you will find them interesting and those who like Technology will enjoy them a lot...

You will tell me about
HERE YOU HAVE THE FIRST VIDEO OF A SERIES OF 6 IN WHICH THE CONSTRUCTION OF PYRAMIDS IN THE ANCIENT EGYPT IS EXPLAINED

If you are interested in them let me know and then I will upload the others. I think they are also interesting to understand the way of life of the ancient Egyptians.
And here you have a last video about one of the theories of pyramids construction. I don´t know what to think about but at least it is original... (there must be more than one, if you are interested in them, keep looking for them...).

There are more crazy theories about Egyptian architecture
                                                               Do you know wy?
